Happy Father’s Day

I was blessed to be loved by a father, not out of obligation, but out of choice.

Thanks so much to my wonderful dad who put together my little purple bike, taught me how to change brake shoes on the pinto and walked me down the aisle.

Warm fuzzies to all the dads who love their children and are loved by them.  We couldn’t do it without you!

  1. I called my father today to wish him a Happy Father’s Day. In case you don’t know, he’s had a rough year. He chuckled and spoke back wearily to me, “Jink, I been meanin to tell ya, KEEP IT in the Road.” I laughed because that’s what he wanted.

He’s been telling me to* keep it in the road* since he taught me to drive his tractor a few years back. Today I think he was saying something more…

It is good to laugh with a good man. *Keeping it in the road* could be a full time job, Btw, I said I would. 🙂

    • Jeanna,

Thanks for sharing your heatfelt Father’s Day story. I hope the upcoming year treats him a little more kindly and that you get many more good laughs with an obviously wonderful father.

  2. You had a Pinto? So did I! Mine was a 1973 that I got in 1990. It had been a California car, and there was so much sun damage that chunks of plastic from the the steering wheel would fall off in my hands as I was driving. Great car, though!

(Nicely written Father’s Day tribute, by the way 🙂

    • LOL, Layinda. Did you buy our old one?!?!?

It, too, came up from California, though I couldn’t vouch for the age. His name was Evenrud after the dragonfly in The Rescuers. By the time I was in highschool, mid-eighties, Minnesota had not been kind to him. I went to college and never knew what happened to him. All I know is that he made the California to Minnesota trip a gazillion times with my sister and me smashed into the back and a cooler between us.

      Hugs~ cat

  3. Ya know, come to think of it, we did buy it from a guy we knew who had recently moved to Arizona from Minnesota… Their names were Matt and Carmen, and the car was white with olive green interior (what was left of it). But that would be impossible.

  4. I’m almost relieved – that would have been too weird.

Mine didn’t have rust holes, but I’m pretty sure it never was never modified so that it wouldn’t blow up if hit from behind. I traded it in for $400 more than I paid for it, on a new Escort. I was sad to see it go, though. 😦
