I love a good picture book that ignites a child’s imagination and opens communication between children and their caregivers.
Writing picture books isn’t as easy as jotting down a few words. Each story must tell a full tale and have characters children love. Just as importantly, they have to be as enticing for the parents to read–again and again and again–as for the children to listen.
Reading a picture book is pure snuggle time, as far as I’m concerned. It’s a time for caregivers and children to connect with each other and with the world around them.
I strive to make this happen with my youngest children’s lit.
