I must admit this book is my most memorable childhood favorite. I read it every year and have never grown tired of the story. It’s one of those books that shaped who I am and what I believe.
Mildred D. Taylor was a masterful storyteller when she penned this incredible tale of race, betrayal, friendship and love. It is also hailed as one of the greatest books ever written for kids. No matter how many books I read, I can’t help but to agree that this is true.
If for some reason you missed the opportunity to read Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry while growing up, know that it is never too late to read a literary masterpiece.

We have more experience with good children’s Lit so our favorites list is rather “juvenile”
Marcia, thanks for stopping by. I would love to know what books top your list of favorites and why. Some books have value well beyond the interesting story they tell. Others are fun to read simply for their ablility to let us escape into another world for a few hours.
I loved this book and re-read it several years back. It’s definitely one for the ages.
It is a perennial favorite of mine. I have read the other two Logan books, but did not feel as drawn to them as this one. Loved it then. Love it now.
